Nozawa Onsen has only one ski area, however it is extensive with over 297 hectares of skiable terrain, making it one of the largest single ski resorts in Japan. The resort offers a variety of terrain for all levels over it’s fifty kilometres of trails with runs, well distributed between beginner, intermediate and advanced.

Nozawa is perfect for families, with gentle beginner slopes around the Nagasaka and Higake bases, including a kids park with facilities such as an inflatable bouncer, sled and tubing courses. There is also a free rest station at Higake building if you need a place to chill and escape the cold for a while.

The resort is popular for advanced skiers and boarders, offering easily accessible off-piste trails which are steep and deep, as well as awesome backcountry and a terrain park. The tree skiing at Yamabiko has recently opened up as a self responsibility area, it offers good quality snow and natural features. Most of the resort's advanced terrain is ungroomed, providing epic conditions on a powder day, however once it’s tracked can become a mogul nightmare.

Japanese resorts are not typically known for their terrain parks however Nozawa offers a 2km park with a range of features from small boxes and rollers and rails and large jumps.
